Care Home Door Access Control Systems

Access Control Systems - care home

Secure Entry Systems

Bogdan Valencia, the manager of Elder Homes contacted us as he was looking to install a new toughened glass entrance to one of Elder Homes care homes, Chamberlain House in Edinburgh.   Due to the fact that a lot of the residents are vulnerable, this had to be secured with an access control system but also had to look elegant to fit in line with the company brand.

Chamberlain House is one of two private care homes owned by Elder Homes, a family-owned business.  The other home is Cluny Lodge, which is also in Edinburgh.

Following his enquiry, Craig and Scott went and met Bogdan on site to have a chat about how we could support them with the project.  The project was to install a new secure entrance door into the newly refurbished entrance hallway.

Bogdan had asked for a frameless option to achieve the elegant look that they were striving for to fit in with the rest of the care home.  Following our site survey, we offered Bogdan some CAD drawings allowing him to visualised our proposal.  We proposed a toughened glass entry screen with bi-parting toughened glass doors, meaning that the entrance was completely frameless.  To achieve this, we used 15mm thick toughened glass screens that were drilled for mounting holes for the automatic operator.  The sliding automatic operator used was the EAS 100, we proposed to use this as we knew it is durable, secure and looked great!  As security was a major factor in this installation we chose to use an access control keypad combined with an electromechanical lock to ensure peace of mind for the families of residents.

Automatic Door Installation

Once all the details were agreed this went into production and the job was booked in our diary keeping in line with our 2 – 3 week lead time.

We really enjoyed working with the builders at Elder Homes, they were completely on board with the project and always were always happy to assist which made the installation go very smoothly.   We were on site for three days, the first two days consisted of the mounting of the glass side screens and fan light along with the mechanical fixing of the automatic door operator.  Day three was commissioning the automatic door and connecting it to the access control system.  I am sure you will agree from the images this looks fantastic!

Based on our experience with EAS, without any doubt, they are the company you want to get for anything involving automated glass doors.

Once our quotation was accepted we issued Rui with his CAD drawings for each door set and following this we had a design meeting on site. This allowed us to go over the drawings, bottom out any issues and finalise how he final project would look.
