Automatic Doors - NHS Scotland
One industry sector where we have carried out a variety of projects and work, is the NHS. We have worked with many doctor surgeries on a number of jobs ranging from emergency call outs, installation of automatic doors as well as on-going maintenance contracts. Here are a few examples to show how one job will differ from the other and to hear some feedback from the practise managers we have worked with.
Automatic Door Case Studies for NHS
Braidcraft Medical Centre, Pollok, Glasgow
We first attended a call out here around 12months ago as there were issues with the Record DFA swing operator that was on site. Upon arrival we were able to ascertain that the issue was with the concealed drive arm. We quoted to go back and change this over which Sharon decided to go ahead with. We now have a maintenance contract where we service the door every 6 months on an on-going basis.
E.A.S have managed to achieve swiftly and efficiently what others could not! We were having on going issues with our electronic/push pad doors, they seemed to be moving out of place causing them to open/close randomly. E.A.S. quickly resolved our issues using laymen’s terms explanations and we now have fully functioning doors that open when required. Will now be using E.A.S. in future and securing a maintenance contract with them. Thanks to Jane, Craig and team

Over the past few years we have mainly covered call outs to the Anderson Medial Centre. Again this is a Record DFA swing operator, they prove to be popular in doctors surgeries. The last time we were on site the arm had come lose from the operator so we repaired this and put the system through an engineer’s reset. In addition, we also adjusted the parameters by adjusting the opening and closing speed meaning that the Record DFA swing operator was back to full working order.
I recently called Entrance Access Solutions for an emergency with our automatic doors. They were so fast and efficient. The guys appeared within half an hour and the doors were fixed and maintained within another half an hour. The guys were friendly and explained in detail what they were doing. I will have no hesitation to use this company again and would highly recommend them.

The initial install was actually carried out by another company but was not fully BSEN 16005 complaint. The project consisted of the installation of two FAAC A100 sliding door operators that were meant to be fully automatic. However, we were contacted by Martin, who is one of the partners at this site to carry out a safety inspection as he did not think they were working correctly. We found that the safety sensors were not functioning correctly, there was an issue with the side screen safety sensor on the internal door and the battery operation was not correct it required reprogramming. We supplied a quote to change over the safety sensors and carry out the additional works. The doors are now fully compliant.
Calderlea Surgery, East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire
We were initially contacted by Liam, the practise manager here at Calderlea surgery as they were looking to have their old sliding door operator replaced. The site had an old Besam operator that had definitely seen better days and was not functioning at all. The operator was so old that it was now obsolete and spare parts were not available. Following a site meeting with Craig and Scott we quoted to install a Record STA 20 double sliding operator as the one on site was not fit for purpose. Due to the timescales that Liam wanted to us to work to we managed to turn this round in a number of days and get the operator installed before the surgery opened.
Excellent response and service level provided on a short notice installation. Due to the nature of the job it was an out of hours repair in which the company showed great flexibility to accommodate (starting prior to 5am) and the job was completed to an excellent standard.

We used a toughened glass entry screen with bi-parting toughened glass doors, meaning that the entrance was completely frameless. To achieve this, we used 15mm thick toughened glass screens that were drilled for mounting the automatic operator.

Once our quotation was accepted we issued Rui with his CAD drawings for each door set and following this we had a design meeting on site. This allowed us to go over the drawings, bottom out any issues and finalise how he final project would look.

We replaced the bottom rails, took away the old bottom rails and replaced these with new ones. Once each door leaf had been re-hung we made sure the doors were adjusted and balanced properly ensuring they were safe for pedestrian use.
